Fantastic. Having trouble at the moment with sound but think it was other programme that had the problem and not the GMKtec.

Best mini pc ever

D
David Spagnol

I bought this because I saw a review on YouTube that says that the unit supports Linux. Mostly it does, though I had to add a later kernel module to make the fan speeds available to the system, and I think that the existing AMDGPU kernel module isn't quite there yet resulting in some strange behaviours when the display returns from sleep under power management. I expect this to be taken care of in future kernel updates.

I've added another 2TB nvme ssd hard drive, and all is well.

That said, everything else is as smooth as silk, the fan noise is only occasional and very faint. The Bluetooth connects to my headphones with far fewer problems than my previous computer did. Overall very pleased. I'm not a gamer, so I haven't really pushed the 3D graphics.

Worked well after an older-monitor setup issue

I bought this for an elderly lady and had to reinstall Windows from scratch, so the setup took longer than I expected. I needed to contact support to get the drivers, and I also found that HDMI worked straight away while DisplayPort needed an active DP-to-DVI adapter for her older monitor setup. Once I sorted that out, the PC itself worked fine, stayed quiet, and kept the desk much less cluttered.

Very capable as a Proxmox node

I have found this to be a strong Proxmox node because AMD support works well for my use. The combination of dual 2.5GbE, two M.2 slots, and DDR5 memory makes it a practical little homelab machine. My main complaint is that it only has one USB4 port, because a second one would have made clustered setups even more flexible.

Compact desktop replacement with real performance

I wanted a compact PC for productivity, media, and some gaming, and this one has handled everything I have thrown at it. My office work, coding, 4K video playback, and even Genshin Impact all ran smoothly for me, and the clean Windows setup was a nice bonus. It stays quiet in normal use, the thermals feel well controlled, and the dual 2.5GbE plus OCuLink make it more flexible than I expected.

Easy to upgrade and good value overall

I contacted support because the upgrade process was mentioned but not clearly explained, and they replied very quickly with the opening steps. Once inside, accessing the RAM and extra M.2 slot was straightforward, and I was able to add another SSD without problems. Even after several interrupted starts while troubleshooting my display setup, the machine came up normally and has felt like very good value for money.

Easy replacement for my home-working PC

I bought this to replace my general home-working PC after already having a good experience with another GMKtec machine in the family. Setup was easy, I have had no issues so far, and it has done exactly what I needed from a compact day-to-day work machine.

Tiny machine with strong cooling and gaming headroom

I was genuinely impressed by how much performance this mini PC offers for the price. It feels very responsive for web browsing, Office work, and remote desktop, and I was also surprised by how well it handled gaming with only light background fan noise. Setup was straightforward, Wi-Fi was strong in my office, and the option to add an external GPU through OCuLink makes it feel even more capable.

More power than I need for basic use

For basic home or office work, web browsing, and streaming, this PC is honestly more powerful than I need. Where it really makes sense for me is in heavier workloads, because the speed difference is obvious there. I was especially interested in the dual 2.5GbE ports and expansion options, and I can see it working very well in a homelab or Proxmox-style setup.

Smooth first launch, quiet and powerful

I was very pleasantly surprised by this machine. From the first startup, everything went smoothly with no unpleasant surprises, and I immediately liked how quiet and powerful it felt in use.

Holding up well under 24/7 ML-style use

I was impressed from the beginning, especially by the packaging and the overall first impression. I use this machine in a more demanding 24/7 setup for ML-type work with remote access, and for such a small box I am very satisfied. Under heavy compute with the fans manually set to full speed, I have seen core temperatures approach around 80°C, but overall it has still left me positively surprised.

Wrong specification twice

I had a very poor experience because I tried to buy this machine twice and both times I received a much lower-spec unit than the one I ordered. In my case, the shipped machines had half the RAM and half the storage, so I could not trust the purchase experience at all.
